The new junior tennis term runs until October half-term.
We follow the LTA Youth programme which provides lots of skill-based activity and a rich learning environment for children of all stages of development.
LTA Youth is divided into five stages; Blue, Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow, each with its own court size and type of ball.

Players focus on developing their ABC’s (agility, balance and coordination) whilst learning and developing rallying, serving, moving and volleying skills. Players will gain all the tools they need to receive and send the ball. Our aim is to have players rallying, scoring and playing fun competition as soon as they’re ready. Slower balls and smaller courts make this possible!
A great way for players to continue their progress from Red stage. Players will focus on building on the fundamentals acquired in Red and developing an all round game, the court grows in size a little bit so we want their game to grow too! We plan to get players developing different shots, technique and tactics – ready to move to the full court game!
We’ve got plenty of rackets for players to borrow.
We encourage players to bring a bottle of water.
Sun cream and visor if it’s sunny.
A child’s age usually determines when they’re ready to move. Equally we don’t mind if they stay a little less or longer in a stage – as long as their enjoying and learning. At the end of each term you’ll receive a group progress report to keep you up to date with how they’re doing. We’ll inform you when your child is ready to move and recommend the next class.
Absolutely. We save 5 minutes at the end of the lesson so we can catch up with parents.
Our coach player ratio is 1:8. There may be more than 8 in a class, however the coach to player ratio will remain the same.
Competition is important and we incorporate competition and games throughout the term. The last session of term always includes a fun competition. We’ll provide plenty of information mid-term on how to enter external competitions.
There are lots of ways to get involved, everything from arranging fun competition, helping out on court, completing a coach qualification or just generally volunteering. Don’t forget to find out about our family play sessions too!
The TwistFizz summer camps runs for four weeks during the school holidays and provide an excellent way for kids to improve their skills. Book by day or by week!
