Managing the tennis courts at Eltham Park South comes with its own set of challenges, particularly due to the site’s elevated location and limited natural wind protection. During the autumn months, gusty conditions often cause leaves from the surrounding trees to accumulate on the courts, creating both a maintenance and safety concern.
Our TwistFizz coaching team, supported by dedicated parent volunteers, works hard to ensure the courts are swept and ready before coaching sessions begin.

Avoid playing on wet leaves, as they can make the courts extremely slippery and unsafe.
Seasonal Challenges & Surface Care
As temperatures drop, moss buildup becomes another issue we manage carefully. The green film that appears on the courts during colder months can affect playability and surface safety.

We bring in professional contractors to treat the courts
Moss is removed to keep surfaces safe and playable
Regular treatment helps extend the lifespan of the court surfaces
This essential winter maintenance ensures players can continue enjoying tennis throughout the colder months.
Floodlight Upgrades & Improvements
With the support of the local Council, our floodlights at Eltham Park South were recently upgraded to LED lamps. While this has improved visibility and energy efficiency, the system remains relatively old and requires ongoing care.
Many of you may remember that in 2019, TwistFizz successfully secured funding to make the floodlights accessible to the public after they had been out of service for several years.
Upcoming Floodlight Improvements – January Update
Looking ahead, we are pleased to confirm that floodlight meters will be renewed this January.
